The Space Center Intermediate Band has a tradition of excellence. This tradition is the result of the commitment, dedication and hard work of many individuals. We have all been blessed together: outstanding students, wonderful parents, supportive administration, incredible private lesson teachers, phenomenal clinicians and devoted band directors. Since the school opened in 1993, the band program has been consistently recognized for excellence at both the state and national level. The following achievements highlight our tradition of excellence:

U.I.L. Concert & Sightreading Contest

• Symphonic Band has earned 18 consecutive Sweepstakes Awards
• Honors Band has earned 17 Sweepstakes Awards & 1 Superior Concert Performance Award
• Concert Band has earned 5 Sweepstakes Awards, 5 Superior Concert Performance Awards & 4 Superior Sightreading Performance Awards
• Symphonic Band, Honors Band & Concert Band have all earned an award at U.I.L. Concert & Sightreading Contest every year for the past 13 years

Region Band Auditions

• 95 students have earned 1st Chair honors since the school opened
• 843 students have earned Region Band honors since the school opened
• 1110 students have earned District Band honors since the school opened

Solo & Ensemble Contest

• 5308 total medals have been earned by students receiving 1st Division ratings for solo and ensemble performances since the school opened
